Abstract

The ITER divertor power deposition database is described and analysed in this paper. The database contains experimental measurements from the major divertor experiments in L-mode and H-mode regimes. The measurements are used to derive multi-machine scaling laws for the peak divertor heat flux and width, particularly of their machine size dependance. The physical basis for these scalings is dicussed and the laws obtained are used to extrapolate from existing experiments to the parameters expected in the ITER-EDA device.
