Within the limits of the funds available the dynamic effects of a variety of situations and systems were investigated and then calculated with the help of a numeric simulation. The analytical model was established in the "FSIMUL" simulation language and compared with actual measurements. By using single numerical modules, models were developed for both powering- and braking situations and these were successfully tested. The software has already been used on a number of occasions to assess difficult transport problems in underground situations. For example, successful simulation was made of a rope-driven transport system for moving shields weighing 16.4 tonnes.
