Abstract

In the scope of the study of Ion Temperature Gradient related instabilities in ballooning approximation, attention has been focused on the effect of the trapped ions. A new ballooning eigenvalue code has been developed to solve the gyrokinetic equation for a circular, large aspect ration of equilibrium, in case of adibiatic electrons and full ion dynamics, thus containing both circulating and trapped ions. Results are presented which show the evidence of the destabilizing effect of trapped ions
