MHD Limits in Low Aspect Ratio Tokamaks with Separatrix
Instabilities occur in nearly all plasmas ranging from laboratory to those that occur astrophysically. In this paper numerical studies to investigate the current and beta limit in low aspect ratio tokamaks will be presented, though the methods are applicable to a wide variety of situations. Equilibrium and stability codes CAXE and KINX were used taking into account the separatrix at the plasma boundary.
