Environmental change: causes and consequences

Funded under: FP5-EESD

Thousands of scientists all over the world are involved in researching Environmental change and its consequences. In Europe, the European Commissions Environment and Climate Programme is a major research effort to assess the environmental consequences of our activities and to develop the skills and technology we need to do better in the future. It consists of two main sections: Assessing the effects - evaluating the impact of environmental change in terms of the global ozone variation in the stratosphere and troposphere, and looking at how aquatic, terrestrial and coastal ecosystems are being affected by human activity. Developing new technology - focusing on new techniques and processes to prevent and minimize environmental damage.
