Abstract

The stellarator configurations with poloidal direction of lines B=constant on magnetic surfaces have been previously shown to possess some attractive features. Such configurations are studied both analytically, up to second-order terms in the expression for B in an expansion with respect to the distance from the magnetic axis, and numerically.
