Abstract

The concept of enhancing the standardized thematic interpretation of reflectance data of larger Mediterranean eco-zones led to the development of a spectral database for the Mediterranean. Special emphasis was laid on the incorporation of specific parameters describing the environmental setting in a physiographic context and implementing spectral data from different spectroradiometer. Spectral reflectance data of laboratory measurements and of various field campaigns are now organized in the spectral database MedSpec. This spectral database will aid the selection of the appropriate end members for further applications in spectral mixture analysis for operational applications in an environmental monitoring in the Mediterranean basin.
