  • The COASTS Time Series of bio-optical measurements in the North Adriatic Sea: an analysis with a view to interpretation of satellite colour data in coastal water

Abstract

A bio-optical data set resulting from the two first years of a measurement program performed from an offshore oceanographic tower located off Venezia in the North Adriatic Sea is presented. Time series of some selected optically active marine and atmospheric components and their optical properties are analyzed. The resulting bio-optical characteristics of the site and inter-relationships between variables are discussed within the context of validation and interpretation of satellite colour data in coastal waters.
