Microdosimetry model for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy: the effect of the proton recoil reaction
Due to limitations in existing microdosimetry models, a new model called 'MICOR' has been written to analyse the spatial distribution of microscopic energy deposition for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. In this model the reactions independent of the neutron energy, like the boron and the nitrogen reaction can be considered as well as the reactions which depend clearly on neutron energy like the proton recoil reaction. The model is used to analyze a radiobiological experiment performed at the HBII facility in the HFR Petten. This analysis shows the value of the model in analyzing the dose depositions on a cellular scale.
