Abstract

The reactions 235,238 U(n,f) and 237 Np(n,f) have been studied in detail using a double Frisch-gridded ionization chamber as fission fragment detector. In the case of 235U the incident neutron energies ranged from thermal to 6 MeV and in the other two cases from below threshold (1.2MeV for 238U and 0.3 MeV for 237Np) up to the onset of second chance fission. The mass, kinetic energy and angular distributions have been studied in detail.
