The design of shafts against fatigue
Transmission shafts are often prone to fatigue failure and this paper reports a comparative analysis of four fatigue design standards which have been chosen among those dealing specifically with transmission shafts. The content of each standard has been briefly exposed and the corresponding methodologies have been compared on the basis of calculation examples.
