Abstract

Phenol, cresols and nitrated phenols have been found in atmospheric air in the ng/m ³ range. They have acute toxic and mutagenic properties. In this study the formation of cresol and nitration of phenol have been studied in a smog chamber with a volume of 480 L, equipped with a multiple reflection White- type mirror system for on-line FT-IR.
