New integrated technologies for wetland management and protection
Describes how new integrated technologies are being developed within the SHYLOC (System for Hydrology using Land Observation for model Calibration) project to improve wetland predictions and to contribute towards the development of hydrological indices that are representative of the almost 'natural' conditions of wetlands. This is being achieved through further developing hydrological models, for quantifying key hydrological parameters needed to restore wetland functions, and through using the SHYLOC technique, that integrates Landsat-TM satellite images with ground-based data to determine surface water storage in ditch networks.
