Signal Space Projection for the recognition of EEG patterns
EEG-based Brain Computer Interfaces require on-line detection of mental states from spontaneous EEG signals. Reports on the use of the Signal Space Projection (SSP) method as a classifier. SSP is applied to both raw and Surface Laplacian (SL) transformed EEG data from five healthy people performing two mental tasks. It is concluded that SSP is a promising component of Brain Computer Interfaces, especially if combined with more advanced classifiers such as artificial neural networks.
