Abstract

The curve-of-growth method was applied to a laser-induced plasma. The plasma was produced by a Nd: YAG laser on the surface of steel samples containing 0.007-1.3% of Cr. The emission was collected from the top of a plasma by means of a 45 degree pierced mirror and aligned onto an intensified charge-coupled device with a gate width of 1 us and a variable delay time. The potential of the COG method for laser breakdown spectroscopy is discussed.
