Reduction in water requirements for briquette and coke production
The processing of run-of-mine lignite in a refining plant to produce briquettes and/or coke gives rise to specifically contaminated process water. Also, the process water arising in these refining facilities with integrated power plants must be set against the considerable quantities of raw water (well water) required. Examines and develops new options for treating and, hence, reusing process water well beyond the conventional scale. The process condensate that occurs in the drying of run-of-mine lignite (the first stage in a refining sequence) offers the ecological and economic potential for obtaining a definite improvement in the above water requirement. The project is targeted at the treatment of this process condensate for the purpose of reuse.
