Application of geophysical methods for detecting and monitoring areas where there is a risk of rockburst
Detecting zones where there is a risk of rockburst is a substantial problem for the safety and viability of mines. Objectives were to develop a method for continuous and effective surveillance of mines where there is a risk of dynamic phenomena, which would be easy to implement. The development of surveillance and detection of zones at risk during mining was based on microseismic monitoring, to define and test risk criteria for the behaviour of work sites. Results show that the special distribution of seismic events is a parameter that can be used for evaluating and characterizing the state of rock in the vicinity of work.
