Abstract

The European Institute for Transuranium Elements at Karlsruhe and the All-Russia Research Institute for Inorganic Materials Moscow as the primary analytical facilities for safeguards support in the European Union and the Russian Federation, respectively, apply their analytical expertise to identify nuclear material of unknown origin. The bilateral workshop held at ITU in June 1998 led to a exchange of knowledge of experience in particular in the fields of impurity and microstructure analysis.
