Abstract

There is an increasing need for efficient methods for aiding decision making in environmental planning and protection. Often infra-structural establishments are in conflict with water supply interests. One example is the highway E22 under construction through the inner protection zone of the water supply of the Kalmar municipality, in South-eastern Sweden. Both the groundwater quality and quantity are endangered by infra-structural establishments.

In this paper, a framework for evaluating the environmental and economical impacts from infra-structural establishments on groundwater resources are presented. The framework is applied to a particular case study, Nybroasen in Sweden. .
