Cognitive Simulation of a Flight Crew During the Approach to Landing Phase
This paper addresses the implementation of a human reliability method for studying the interactions between the crew, the aircraft and the environment within a cockpit, both in nominal and abnormal conditions. The method has been applied prospectively and implemented into a simulation tool for qualitative analyses of the Approach To landing phase procedure. Errors that can be performed by the crew have been studied, classified by means of a taxonomy of human errors provided by the method, and their consequences assessed. In this paper, the method is presented and its applications discussed, focusing on the pilots erroneous cognitive process.
