Abstract

MURBANDY's indicators aim to report on the sustainability of Europe's cities and region aim to be robust in space and time. In fact, MURBANDY's indicators have to be flexible to accommodate for the different urban structures and at the same time have a degree of standardization that allows for comparison within Europe. They also have historical perspective for assessing past and future trends. In order to reduce their number and address sustainability and carrying capacity, priority in the selection process has been given to definite cross-sectoral indicators, with a focus on pressure indicators. MURBANDY's indicators are currently tested on 24 cities representing Europe's urban diversity.
