Brittle Matrix Composites: Microstructure, Room and High Temperature Properties
The research and development status of brittle matrix composites: in-situ reinforced, ductile phase reinforced, nano and layered composites is summarized in this contribution. The characteristic microstructure features, which determine the mechanical properties of these materials, are described. The main relationships between the microstructure parameters and fracture and mechanical properties at room and high temperatures are also discussed.
