Abstract

Since 1940, when the Cas was conceived by Ulam and von Neumann, until now, they have been applied to the study of general phenomenological aspects of the world, as a way of understanding the behaviour of complex systems. The basic idea is not to try and describe a complex system from above, but simulating this system by interaction of cells flowing easy rules. In this paper we propose to use cellular automata paradigm fro R.S applications on multi-spectral, multi-temporal and multi-spatial data analysis. In a first approach, we are designing two software applications. These software tools are being implemented in SAI in the global vegetation monitoring in order to process daily NOAA-avhrr data for detecting burnt surfaces and also land/use covers changes at global scales. Results at global scale from daily NOAA-avhrr images GAC-8 km will be presented.
