Large scale geotechnical experiment on soil-foundation interaction
The paper describes two-large scale load tests performed on a square-rigid foundation, 1m side, resting on a sand bed of 4.6 by 4.6m in a plan and 3m deep. Two samples of Ticino sand were reconstructed at two different densities. The observed settlements have been compared to those inferrred from a conventional computational method. The load displacement curves have been compared to those inferred from load tests performed in Calibration Chamber on rigid plate embedded in the same sand.
