Drag Reduction in Turbulent Boundary layer
This is the first report on a new experimental research finalized to the assessment of the efficiency of a new passive technology for the reduction of skin friction drag in a turbulent boundary layer. Based on velocity and total pressures measurements, the integral parameters of the boundary layer have been calculated at different stream wise positions along the wind tunnel. The friction coefficient has been estimated by both integration of the Von Karman equation and directly from the slope of the velocity profiles. The results have then been compared with tests performed on hydraulically smooth plates under the same conditions
