Abstract

When seized plutonium material of illicit trafficking has to be analyzed, its origin is the main parameter of interest for the authorities. Its origin should be reliably determined because in the case of legal proceedings incorrect accusations cannot be put forward. In this study five plutonium samples of different origins were analyzed and the production types, ie, the reactor types were determined by comparing the isotopic composition of plutonium with the ORIGEN2 and SCALE computer code calculations. This, in conjunction with the age determination for these samples, led us to their origin
