Abstract

The process industry is one of the major wealth producing activities of our modern day society. Its products are so diverse and widely used that our dependence on them is taken for granted and little consideration is given as to their origin. This paper describes the pertinent features of the Seveso II Directive, which was due to be transposed into national law and applied from 3rd February of 1999, and highlights the functioning and achievements of the Major Accident hazards Bureau.
