Lake Varese: Chemical Composition of Two Cores
Two sediment cores from lake Varese have been collected in 1993, analyzed for 18 elements and dated by measuring the Cs concentration in sections one cm thick. Moreover, on the short core, another 8 elements have been measured. The changes in distribution profiles in both cores allow us to trace the recent sedimentation history and to advance hypotheses about the anthropogenic influences on the biogeochemical cycles of the investigated elements in Lake varese.
