Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Approach and work carried out:
1 - Aim of the research, to set up models of technical and economical optimization for the coal mining operation through soutirage.

2 - Location of tests, the society suggested carrying out the research in one of their Mining groups. Due to its conditions for future application, the tests were carried out in the Competidora group and the performance of the Competidora seam.

3 - Characteristics of the coal seam, it is a bituminous type of coal similar to low volatility soft coal, its thickness ranging from 4 to over 20 metres, with an average inclination of 60 to 80 degrees and dirty bands that are most variable.

4 - Description of factors of influence. The salient factors influencing the evolution of the mining operation to be tested are: Intrinsic or inherent to the coal field, - Thickness, Regularity and Dipping of the seam, Wall Quality, Thickness and Distribution of Dirty Bands, hardness of the coal and others - and Extrinsic or belonging to the operation - Height of the caving to be soutiraged, direction and access of soutirage, number of points of simultaneous mining, distance between soutirage operators, systems of soutirage and selectivity of mining.
