Abstract

There are often conflicts between water supply issues and infrastructural establishments. New methodologies for aiding decision making in environmental planning and protection are needed. A framework that evaluates the environmental and economical impacts on groundwater resources from infrastructural establishments is herein presented, where the impacts are predicted and visualized by groundwater modelling and geographical information systems respectively. Furthurmore, the results from the model are evaluated against a specific set of criteria and are used as feedback for developing new scenarios. The family of criteria is derived from information obtained from interviews conducted with local governments and interest groups in the local site. The framework is applied to a particular study, Nyobrasen in the south-eastern part of Sweden
