After a short introduction of the European Commission Joint Research Centre, a description of the Cyclotron and its activities at the Institute for Health and Consumer Protection at the JRC in Ispra, Italy, is given, as well as an overview on the involved radiation protection aspects. In particular, the Thin Layer Activation Technique, the production of 1231 and the future project with the FDG imply a fetailed program in the physical and medical surveillance of the protection, I.e. the monitoring and classification of controlled and supervised areas as well as of the exposed workers and the countermeasures to be taken in order to keep the doses at levels as low as reasonably achievable.
