Abstract

An interlaboratory study of gas chromatographic method for the determination of volatile congeners in spirit drinks was conducted. 31 laboratories from 8 countries took part in the study. The objective of the work was to formally validate what is suitable for use in monitoring compliance the Council Regulation (EEC) No 1576/89, which defines the description and composition of spirit, drinks. The method will be included in the Annex of the foreseen Commission Regulation (EC) laying down Community methods for the analysis of spirit drinks.
