Data Spatial Distribution in Meteorology and ClimatologyFunded under: IC-COST
The quality of meteorological observation depends not only on the instruments, but also on their exposure and on observation procedures. Therefore data from undocumented stations are not reliable. Feasibility of spatial extrapolation of good observations depends on the parameter, and is easiest for radiation and wind. Representivity of data relates not only to characteristics of observations, but also to purpose and scale of applications.
