  • Pseudo-dynamic seismic testing of large scale models of structures at the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment of the European Commission

The European Laboratory for the Structural Assessment is engaged in supporting and validating the rules of the EUROCODES that are the European provisional standards for constructions, prepared by the European Committee for Standardization under mandate of the European Commission. A multi storey full-scale concrete frame, various steel frames and large-scale models of bridge columns have been tested to verify and validate the safety coefficients of the Eurocodes. ELSA is also engaged in testing base isolated civil structures and in experimental assessment of the effectiveness of energy dissipation devices and shock absorbers for the protection of industrial plants.
