This paper presents the salient results of the coupled prediction calculations performed for the three mile island accident sequence with the RELAP5/SCDAP and COMETA codes. RELAP5/SCDAP is used to calculate the initial phase up to 224 min. into the accident; particular emphasis is placed on the prediction of primary system conditions at the time of melt relocation onto the lower plenum. These data are then transferred as input parameters to COMETA which is used to calculate the melt coolant interaction phase. The analysis of the results has shown that prediction of oxidation phenomena is an important aspect of the overall simulation sequence
