Abstract

An effective approach to the management of the Exclusive Economic Zone implies the comprehensive coverage of all components of coastal ecosystems, ie both the terrestrial and marine domains, as well as the interface between the two, where the processes of mutual impact take place. Remote sensing of marine and coastal environmental parameters, in enclosed and marginal basins, can be used for this purpose. The information derived from the RS are of paramount importance in the development of operational monitoring and predicting capabilities needed for the sustainable use of near-coastal natural resources.
