The Phebus FP nuclear safety project is providing information about fission product behaviour inter circuit and the containment using a realistic source generated in similar conditions in the first two-tests, FPT0 and FPT1. A bundle of 20 1-metre long fuel rods plus a central silver-indium-cadmium control rod were brought to an advanced state of degradation in a steam-rich carrier flow. Fission product inventories were low in FPT0, and representative of mid-life core in FPT1. The final degradation state was more advanced in FPT0. About 200 grams of aerosols were transported to the containment vessel, a small but significant fraction being deposited in the circuit.
