Harmonization of methods and measurements in the fight against doping (HARDOP)

Funded under: FP5-GROWTH

The HARDOP project, under the joint authorities of the International Olympic Committee and the European Union, took place in 1998 and 1999. Its main objective was to identify the research needs necessary to fight the phenomenon of doping in sport. In order to have global understanding of the issue, all the actors involved - representatives of sport bodies, athletes, laboratory heads, doctors, journalist etc - were consulted. The organization of three discussion seminars and the preparation of targeted questionnaires made it possible to identify, both on a structural and a scientific level, the priorities for international cooperation in this area.
