Analysis of field observations and marine bio-optical modelling
A time-series of atmospheric and marine optical and biogeochemical measurements performed from an oceanographic tower in the northern Adriatic Sea is presented and analyzed. This time-series has been collected for more than four years in the frame of the vicarious calibration and validation of satellite water colour sensors activities. It is also a basis for optical models and algorithms developed in order to retrieve water quality indicators from satellite data in the European coastal waters. Empirical algorithms allowing the estimation of phytoplantonic pigments and suspended matter in the northern coastal Adriatic Sea are provided.
