Abstract

Flux redistribution and formation of channelling peaks have been observed in the geometry of intially wide-angle incidence for protons transmitted through monocrystalline Si membranes. The channelling peaks are generated by the crystalline medium as a result of multiple chanrge-exchange events due to the impact-parameter dependence of the electron capture and loss cross-sections. This explains successfully the detection of channelling peaks only at a low enough residual proton energy E(f/p) <0.6 MeV, after the transmission.
