Abstract

Comparison of the thermonuclear performances of FIRE and ITER-FEAT projects is performed. Using FIRE assumptions for confinement, profiles and impurity contents, the Q=10 nominal operating point of this machine is reproduced. With the same rules, ITER-FEAT is shown to operate at Q=50. Using ITER-FEAT assumptions for confinement, profiles and impurity contents, the Q=10 nominal operating point of ITER-FEAT is reproduced. With the same rules, FIRE is shown to operate below Q=3.
