Abstract

Forty Radiello samplers were used to study the distribution of ozone over the Varese area (Northern Italy) during an ozone episode in July 1999: The European ozone target for the protection of human health and the information threshold are exceeded over a large part of the area. The highest concentration (180 æg/m-3) is observed in altitude and outside suburban areas. The study demonstrated the feasibility of ozone monitoring during a sampling period of 8 hours using the Radiello passive sampler. From daily profiles of ozone concentration, the popular information and alert threshold can be evaluated with this passive sampler.
