Poiatica (RE) Landfill: Evaluation Of Heavy Metal Depositions In The Last Eight Years Using Indigenous Mosses
A controlled landfill in Poiatica (RE) was monitored using indigenous mosses of the species Hypnum cupressiforme. The elements analyses in order to evaluate any possible enrichment in concentration due to 'soil-effect'. The results did not show any particular influence from the landfill in about the last 8 years. The enrichment factor showed that the concentrations of heavy metals in mosses was mainly due to the high vehicular traffic on un-tarred roads in the are of the landfill.
