Abstract

Accurate and reproducible dosimetry is a prerequisite for radiobiological experiments. Acceptable uncertainties in dose values are dependent on the purpose of the studies. For radiobiological experiments related to radiation protection (biological effects at low doses) larger deviations are allowed than for studies related to radiotherapy.

The EULEP-Eurados code of practice for X-irradiation forms the most essential part of the present document. Laboratories cooperating within the EULEP-Eurados framework should adhere to this code of practice.

General background information to the code of practice for dosimetry in radiobiology is given in the EULEP-Eurados protocol for X-ray dosimetry. More detailed background information is given in 10 supplements. Appendices contain definitions of general terms used for measurements and mathematical expressions of the relative variances.
