The COST Action 67 "Chemodynamics and water quality protection in natural porous media" coordinates important research activities in the signature countries related to soil and ground- water pollution. Large-scale field site researches have been performed to set up better methods for modelling fates, transmissions and transformations of the contaminants as well as for predicting vulnerability and remediation of contaminated soil. International and multidisciplinary research teams such as the working group 'Field studies' were established to develop and apply new analytical technologies, to fit small-scale processes, to field scale and to validate numerical models. After some evaluations, seven sites were selected as reference sites for studying chemodynamics of contaminants in porous natural media. The study introduces the field scale research projects and its infrastructures in Belgium, France, Hungary, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands concluding the results of the European Network of Field Site Laboratories.
