Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Initiated by the European Commission (MAST programme) in 1992, the European Conference on Underwater Acoustics is now a well established conference organised under the aegis of the European Acoustics Association (the EAA groups 26 national acoustical societies gathering more than 8500 individual members). Results from previous projects or running projects supported at community level (MAST etc.) were presented during the conference. The conference programme included both structured and standard sessions: invited lecturers, contributed papers and posters covering the wide range of underwater acoustics-Arctic acoustics, ambient noise, reverberation, scattering, bubble acoustics, sound propagation modeling, sea trials, tank experiments, acoustic measurements, transducers, calibration, instrumentation, signal processing, underwater communication, acoustic positioning, acoustic imaging, ocean acoustic tomography, fisheries acoustics, geoacoustics (geology and geophysics), marine environment, underwater archaeology, risk assessment, seafloor characterisation.

In complement to the scientific sessions, a round table was organised addressing, in particular, the duality between civil and military research in underwater acoustics.
