Radiative transfer models for microwave radiometry (final report of Project 1)
The aims of COST Action 712 'Application of microwave radiometry to atmospheric research and monitoring' are to improve the applications of microwave radiometry to the understanding and monitoring of the hydrological cycle and tropospheric-stratospheric exchange. The Project 1 of the action focuses on the development of improved physical models, fast physical and semi-empirical models and improvement of critical elements in radiative transfer (e.g. microwave dielectric properties of water, ice soil, vegetation and various mixtures). The purpose of this report is to make available the results of the project to the other projects of the action, to the meteorological community and the still wider community interested in remote sensing, climatology, hydrology, and earth system sciences.
