Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The objective of the agri-environment cluster is to promote the JRC activities related to agriculture, forestry and the environment. Since these activities require different expertise and skill (agronomy, chemistry, spatial analysis, socio-economic perspectives), they are at the present time scattered between various institutes. The Agri-Environment cluster aims at fostering relationships between JRC scientists from different units/institutes and also to improve the JRC visibility in that field towards the Directorate General Agriculture and Environment. Ultimately, it should allow these activities to be modified according to the need of the customers.

After one year of existence, the JRC Cluster Agri-Environment publishes its annual progress report to be distributed to DO JRC Programme Directorate and to the customers in the various General Directorates and working groups. A number of results are available and are presented according to the project matrix adopted to present the JRC Agri-Environment Cluster with:

Thematic activities on: Soil, Water, Climate, Landscape and Biodiversity Horizontal support activities on: Geo-Information and Spatial modelling, Management of Agri- Environmental Measures, Perspectives Studies, Information Exchange.

This progress report should improve the visibility of the Agri-Environment Cluster in general. It should serve also as a basis for discussion during the workshop organised with customer DG's on the 12-l3th of October 2000, in Brussels.
