This report describes the production and testing of dry lung tissue with a certified concentration of asbestos fibres. Two large samples of fresh lung tissue were dried, sterilised, ground and finally packed into 100mg units. In 10mg test portions, the variability of the asbestos fibre concentration was less than 13% and the variability of matrix components (iron, zinc) was less than 11% (relative standard deviation of replicate measurements). The materials were stable under various storage conditions.
