Abstract

The European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (ELSA) has been extensively used to provide the necessary experimental data for the validation and refinement of Eurocode 8, the European norm relevant to earthquake-resistant design of structures. In the paper, some of the large-scale seismic tests conducted at ELSA on civil engineering structures are described, to highlight the importance of the results in the process of validation and improvement of Eurocode 8.
